Renovation 2013 - 2 weeks in

There's been a lot of demolition going on around here.  One day I came home and I could see from the front door out the window into the back yard, and all the way to where the kitchen sink will be.  It's going to be so great!

So far, there is a dumpster in the driveway and the kitchen is completely gutted.  The wall between the kitchen and dining room is gone, the wall between the living room and dining room is down to just the studs.  The appliances and tile have all arrived and are waiting in the garage to be installed.  

There has been much exploring in the attic.  The architect has been over and an issue with the beam in the basement not lining up with the beam in the ceiling, requiring some movement of posts and the header that is going in, have been solved.  The electrician has been in and the placement of lights, switches and outlets have been worked out.  

The carpet has been removed from the living room, and the carpet pad was destroyed, which is no big surprise because you could feel how bare it was when walking around barefoot.  We really should have torn that out years ago, especially since the hardwood flooring underneath was in perfect condition.  Of course, that makes perfect sense since they are now removing it so we can replace it with bamboo flooring so it matches what is in the other rooms.

I don't know for sure what this week will bring, besides the last day of school on Thursday.  I think the plumber should be coming and hopefully the header will go in so the living room/dining room wall can come completely down.  Every day brings a new adventure.
