chutes-and-ladders

Today the girls and I went to the Goodwill store. We've donated many items over the years, but this is the first time I ventured into the store. I was looking for some cheap bud vases, and since this is the type of thing I would donate I figured what the heck.

Well, we didn't find any vases, but wow -- they have a lot of clothes in there along with lots of random other items. I didn't find what I was looking for, but we did end up spending a whole $6 between a Barbie storage suitcase ($3) and a pair of rollerblades ($3) for the girls to share. We've been talking about buying rollerblades all summer since they are enjoying ice-skating, but they are surprisingly hard to find in their size and kind-of expensive. The girls took turns taking trips around the house when we got home. I think I got my $3 worth, too bad they didn't have 2 pairs. :)

FredBird

When we got to the game last week the "Remax" hot air balloon was in the ball field next door to the stadium. There was a lot of time before the game started so we wandered over for a closer look. This resulted in a hug from FredBird and a family picture. It just goes to show that you never know what you're going to happen upon.

One more thing... isn't this the cutest little bubby (Q-bert to be exact) that you've ever seen?

Summer transitions into fall...

School started this week, we spent the last week on vacation -- trying to fit in a last little bit of summer.

We spent the first few days at Holiday World & Splashin Safari in Santa Claus Indiana. We are turning into total water park vacationers. Also, who says you can't sit on Santa's lap and tell him what you want for Christmas in August. Not us that's for sure. I believe that M asked for art supplies (which she needs like a hole in the head) and J asked for a stuffed dog.

Then we spent a few days sleeping in, hanging out, doing things like cleaning and organizing the house, getting hair cuts, new eye-glasses for M, shopping for back-to-school cloths, going to the cardinal game and going to the local water park. We even managed to go to my hometown in IL for the local parade/carnival.
